Lebanon: Mikati asks “Total” to start executive procedures for oil exploration
BEIRUT, Oct. 11 (YPA) – Head of the caretaker government in Lebanon, Najib Mikati, asked representatives of the French company “Total” to start the executive procedures for drilling in Lebanese waters, after reaching an agreement to demarcate the border with Israel.
The Presidency of the Lebanese Government stated that Mikati and Energy Minister Walid Fayyad met with a delegation from Total, which included Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager Romain Lamartinear, Director of the Company and Director of Oil Exploration and Production, Laurent Vivier.
During the meeting, Mikati asked Total’s representatives to immediately start the executive procedures for drilling in Lebanese waters.
After the meeting, Fayyad said: “The conversation was very positive regarding the developments taking place in the demarcation file.”
