Hadramout tribes call on UAE-backed militias to leave province

HADRAMOUT, Oct. 11 (YPA) – The tribes of Hadramout on Sunday dealt a new blow to the militias affiliated with the United Arab Emirates, in conjunction with their calls on the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions to leave the oil plateau.

Local media said that Brom Mayfa Tribal gunmen prevented military reinforcements of the STC’s militia from entering the province, which has been witnessing unprecedented tension between the Saudi-led coalition’s factions for days.

The sources explained that the tribal gunmen forced the UAE-backed militias to return to the outskirts of Shabwa province.

“The reinforcements were on their way to the city of Mukalla,” one of the sources said.

On Saturday, the Hadramout Tribal Authority announced its support for the Seiyun demonstrations, which called on the STC to leave the valley and desert directorates. The tribes  threatened to escalate against the STC’s factions.
