Duma officially approves annexation of 4 Ukrainian regions to Russia

MOSCOW, Oct. 04 (YPA) – The Russian State Duma on Tuesday unanimously passed a law to annex Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine to Russian territory.

At Tuesday’s session, the Federation Council unanimously approved bill to annex Ukraine’s Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, after a similar vote in the Duma, Russia’s lower house, on Monday.

The documents will be returned to the Kremlin for final signature by President Vladimir Putin to formally complete the process of annexing the four regions, which represent about 18% of Ukraine’s internationally recognized territory.

This comes after President Putin earlier signed a document on the annexation of 4 Ukrainian regions to his country, which sparked the reactions of a number of world leaders after the annexation referendum held by Moscow in the Ukrainian separatist regions.
