TAIZ, Oct. 01 (YPA) – Islah Party pushed on Saturday armed groups to the southern areas of Taiz province, local sources said.
Local sources indicated that the armed groups, believed to be members of Al-Qaeda, arrived at the city of Al-Turbah, of Al-Shamaitain district.
The sources indicated that the armed groups included the so-called “Transport Brigade” led by Amjad Khaled, accused of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) of being behind the terrorist crimes that struck the city of Aden, including the assassination of the leader of the Al-Anad Axis, Thabet Jawas, last March.
The sources indicated that Islah’s recruitment of unknown elements from Tur al-Baha, west of Lahj, is a proactive tactic for possible confrontations with “UAE-funded Tariq Afash” in the countryside of Taiz.
The STC threatens to carry out a military operation to purify the remaining sites and barracks controlled by Islah militants in Tur al-Baha, in early 2020.
The military leaders loyal to the UAE are heading to tighten the screws on the Islah party in Taiz and Marib, and to expel its gunmen from Wadi Hadramout.
