SANAA, Sept. 21 (YPA) – Two people were killed and five others were injured when a firefighting helicopter believed to be Russian crashed on Wednesday in the Turkish province of Denizli.
“A firefighting helicopter was sent to put out a forest fire in Marmaris district of Mugla Province and it crashed around 16:10 in Shardak district of Denizli Province,” Russian news agencies quoted the Turkish Denizli Provincial Administration as saying.
Search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The Turkish Ministry of Interior published a statement on Twitter, confirming the presence of two Russians on the plane.
The Ministry said, “The helicopter crew consisted of seven Russians and five Turks, two people were killed and five were wounded.”
