SANAA, Sept. 17 (YPA) – Deputy Prime Minister for National Vision Affairs – Head of the Executive Office of the National Vision Management, Mahmoud Al-Junaid, on Saturday stressed the importance of rehabilitating and operating Taiz International Airport for its strategic and pivotal role in the civil aviation field.
This came during an expanded meeting held in Sanaa and attended by the Transport Minister, Abdulwahab Al-Durra, the Governor of Taiz Salah Bajash, the Secretary-General of the Cabinet, Mohammed Al-Kibsi, and the Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Dr. Muhammad Abdulqader.
At the meeting, Al-Junaid noted the importance of concerted efforts, cooperation and coordination among all parties to limit random construction and illegal elevations on the airport campus, stressing the need for full compliance with international standards and requirements.
For his part, the Minister of Transport confirmed that the Transport Ministry and the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority included the rehabilitation and operating of Taiz Airport in their plan within the framework of the plan approved by the Executive Office of the National Vision.
In turn, Taiz Governor reviewed the difficulties facing the local authority in the province at Taiz Airport, including the compensation to the citizens, the random construction and heights in the buildings next to the airport.
For his part, the Cabinet’s Secretary-General affirmed the state’s keenness with all its institutions to unify efforts and cooperate in order to preserve the airport’s lands and campuses.
In the context, the Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation indicated the authority’s keenness to implement the international procedures, standards and requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
