Sanaa calls on coalition, UN to immediately release all fuel ships

SANAA, Sept. 10 (YPA) – Sanaa government on Saturday called on the Saudi-led coalition and the United Nations to stop the policy of distillation in releasing fuel ships, as this has negative effects in raising demurrage fines on ships.

The official spokesman for the Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC), Issam Al-Mutawakel, accused the US-backed coalition, in partnership with the United Nations, of exacerbating the suffering of Yemenis as a result of their practice of the policy of distillation in releasing fuel ships.

In a press statement, Al-Mutawakel said that “four fuel ships entered the port of Hodeida, including two petrol-loaded ships, a gas-loaded ship, and another carrying diesel, while the coalition is still holding five fuel ships, despite obtaining entry permits from the United Nations.”

He called on the United Nations to act impartially and to abide by the terms of the armistice, to stop arbitrary practices and piracy, and to ensure the smooth and ease entry of fuel ships into the port of Hodeida.
