Queen Elizabeth II dies at age of 96

WORLD, Sept. 08 (YPA) -Queen Elizabeth II has passed away at the age of 96, Buckingham Palace has announced.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

The Queen’s doctors placed her under “medical supervision” at her residence in Balmoral Castle in Scotland, on Thursday, after becoming concerned with her health.

Queen Elizabeth II was the world’s longest-serving monarch. She became queen immediately after the death of her father, King George VI in 1952, and has been Britain’s queen for nearly 70 years.
