SHABWA, Aug. 29 (YPA) – The Islah party (the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood), dealt a painful blow to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council in response to its exclusion from Shabwa province, southern Yemen.
According to the sources, the Safer refinery in Marib stopped pumping gasoline and diesel to Shabwa province following directives from the provincial leadership, which caused a suffocating crisis in the city of Ataq and various directorates.
Since Sunday morning, oil derivatives stations have been witnessing long queues of cars, while the price of a gallon of gasoline has tripled on the black market, the sources said.
The same sources pointed out that the crisis causes a wave of widespread resentment among citizens because Shobwa is an oil-rich province and produces thousands of barrels of crude oil exported in favor to the coalition-backed government and seizes its revenues while depriving the people of the province of its wealth.
