Sanaa stresses importance of strengthening cooperation with UNICEF

SANAA, Aug. 25 (YPA) – Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamali, stressed the importance of strengthening aspects of cooperation with UNICEF.

This came during his meeting on Thursday with the Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Hanan Suleiman, and the UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Adele Khader, who are currently visiting Yemen.

Al-Hamali stressed the need to enhance the level of coordination with the Council, as it is the supreme authority authorized to manage the affairs of organizations.

He called on UNICEF to intensify its efforts to support the necessary humanitarian and service projects in the fields of water, education and health, to mitigate the repercussions of the humanitarian catastrophe.

Al-Hamali also stressed the need to support the Water Corporation by providing it with diesel, to be able to provide water to citizens.

In turn, Suleiman indicated that the humanitarian crisis in Yemen would be a top priority for UNICEF, which is working hard with donors to provide funding for urgent humanitarian projects.
