Iran announces seizing oil smuggling ship in Gulf

SANAA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – Iran announced on Wednesday the seizure of a floating ship in the waters of the Gulf waters, on charges of “fuel smuggling.

Mizan news agency quoted the Chief Justice of Hormozgan Province, Mojtaba Ghahremani, as saying that the floating ship carrying 277,000 liters of smuggled fuel was seized in the waters of the Arabian Gulf.

“On the orders of the Public Prosecutor in the city of Qeshm overlooking the Gulf, and while monitoring the border guards and the navy, the officers of the Iranian naval base stationed on this island identified and stopped the ship, as well as 12 crew members of ship were arrested.

Ghahremani did not reveal the identity of the detainees, who he said would remain in detention to complete the legal stages and investigations.
