WORLD, Aug. 09 (YPA) – Joint Russian-Algerian anti-terrorist exercises dubbed Desert Shield 2022 will take place in Algeria for the first time, the press service of the Southern Military District (SMD) said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The joint Russian-Algerian Desert Shield 2022 anti-terrorist drills will take place in Algeria for the first time,” according to the statement.
The exercise will be held this November at the Hammaguir testing ground in Algeria,” the statement said.
The statement noted the drills would involve about 80 servicemen from motor rifle units stationed in the North Caucasus and about 80 Algerian servicemen.
The first joint Russian-Algerian tactical exercise took place in October 2021 at the Tarskoye training ground in North Ossetia, about 200 military personnel from both countries participated.
