Meteorologists warn against torrential rains in coming 24 hours

SANAA, Aug. 07 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology has warned citizens of the dangers of torrential and heavy rains within the next 24 hours.

The center expected, in its weather bulletin on Sunday, the heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms would prevail over the western mountainous heights in the provinces of Bayda, Abyan, Marib, Jawf, Shabwa, Hadramout and Mahra.

It stated that strong monsoon winds, with speeds ranging between 30-50 knots, would be in the Socotra archipelago and 15-25 knots in the Gulf of Aden, the eastern and southern coasts and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab.

The center warned citizens against being in the valleys and flood corridors, and from the low horizontal visibility on mountain roads as a result of rain, low thick clouds and fog.
