PM reviews with IFRC’s Regional Director challenges, crises facing Yemeni people

SANAA, Jul. 03 (YPA) – The Prime Minister, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, on Sunday reviewed the size and quality of the challenges, problems and severe crises that our Yemeni people are facing due to the aggression and siege imposed by Saudi-led coalition.

This came during his meeting in Sanaa with the Regional Director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for the Middle East and North Africa, Hossam Elsharkawi, who is currently visiting Yemen.

The Prime Minister praised the humanitarian effort of the Federation, the ICRC and the entire humanitarian work group operating in Yemen to alleviating the suffering of Yemeni people over the past years and months of aggression and siege.

The meeting discussed the activities of the IFRC and the ICRC and their humanitarian and technical efforts during the last period, and the priorities of their work for the coming period in the humanitarian fields.

Elsharkawi indicated that his current visit comes with the aim of closely examining the humanitarian situation, confirming the IFRC’s keenness to increase the volume of its humanitarian and technical support and to strengthen partnership with local partners, especially the Yemeni Red Crescent.

He praised the Salvation Government’s support for the Yemeni Red Crescent Society and the dedication of its independence and impartiality in the performance of its humanitarian and health duties.
