Russia discloses name of state behind spread of monkeypox virus

MOSCOW, May 27 (YPA) – The chief of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Force Igor Kirillov has revealed the source of the monkeypox virus.

“ There are at least four biological laboratories controlled by the United States in Nigeria, and monkeypox virus is produced in these laboratories,” he said.

In addition, US personnel have trained Ukrainian personnel on how to deal with “pox like” infectious diseases in Ukraine.

Kirillov said the US biological laboratories in Nigeria have been working on the new virus outbreak in the world, according to Russia’s Sputnik news agency.

Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease that occurs primarily in tropical rainforest areas of central and west Africa and is occasionally exported to other regions. An antiviral agent developed for the treatment of smallpox has also been licensed for the treatment of monkeypox.
