Iraqi parliament passes law criminalizing normalization with Zionist entity

SANAA, May 26 (YPA) – The Iraqi parliament passed on Thursday a law criminalizing normalization with the Zionist entity.

The Parliament’s media department said, in a statement, that “members of the parliament voted, during its session on a proposed law, which aims, according to its first article, to “prevent the establishment of diplomatic, political, military, economic, cultural or any other form of relations with the occupying Zionist entity, as well as providing for penalties that may reach life imprisonment and the death penalty.”

As article 201 of the Iraqi Penal Code stipulates that anyone who promotes “the principles of Zionism, including Freemasonry,” or affiliates with any of its institutions, or helps it financially or morally, or works in any way to achieve its purposes, shall be punished with death.

Iraq does not establish any relations with the Israeli enemy, and the Iraq’s government and the majority of political forces reject normalization with this the enemy.

6 out of 22 Arab countries, namely Egypt, Jordan, the Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan, have maintained public relations with the Israeli enemy.
