30 killed in Nigeria’s takfiris attack

SANAA, May 24 (YPA) – Thirty civilians have been killed in northeastern Nigeria in an attack by takfiri jihadists in response to an army raid, two pro-government militia leaders said Tuesday.

According to AFP, the attack took place on Saturday in the village of Modo, Borno state, near the border with Chad, and was carried out by ISIS takfirists in West Africa.

News of the incident emerged late due to poor communication as a result of the destruction of telecom towers by jihadists in the region.

The militia leader Babakura Kolo said that most of the 30 men were slaughtered by ISWAP terrorists while a few who tried to flee were shot.

“They were metal scrap scavengers who were in the area in search of burnt vehicles which dot villages in northern Borno following attacks by the terrorists,” he said.

He said the men had trekked from the town of Rann, 80 kilometers away, where they lived in camps for people displaced by the jihadist violence.
