SANAA, May 02 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia wants to buy 60 advanced Turkish drones within the framework of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense industries, and to develop prospects for cooperation between them, Haber Turk newspaper reported.
The newspaper, based on sources that spoke to it about Saudi-Turkish relations after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Saudi Arabia, said that Turkey and Saudi Arabia “feel the need of each other in the region, which prompted them directly to eliminate differences and open a new page, as the two countries have political, military and economic problems and cooperation in between them strengthens their relationship.”
In this context, the paper indicated that Saudi Arabia wants to buy 20 advanced drones in the short term and 40 in the long term from Turkey, and to develop cooperation in the defense industries between the two countries.
Last year, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Saudi Arabia wants to buy drones from Ankara, without providing further details.
