Iran welcomes return of Gulf countries ambassadors to Lebanon

TEHRAN, April 29 (YPA) – Iran welcomed on Thursday the return of the ambassadors of the Gulf countries to Lebanon, after an absence of more than five months, following a crisis between Beirut and Riyadh.

This came during a phone call between Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Lebanese counterpart Abdullah Bouhabib, according to the official Lebanese news agency.

The agency reported that the Iranian minister “welcomed the return of the Gulf ambassadors to Lebanon, especially since the country has an important regional position.”

The crisis had erupted between Lebanon and Riyadh against the background of a statement by the former Information Minister in Lebanon “George Kordahi” in which he criticized the war in Yemen. , Kordahi’s statements caused his resignation from the ministry in late 2021, and the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Yemen to leave Lebanon, before returning successively after a Kuwaiti initiative to end the crisis.
