Islah militants reject efforts to open western corridor of city of Taiz

TAIZ, April 21 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed Islah party has rejected efforts to open the western corridor of the city of Taiz to alleviate the suffering of the citizens.

In a statement, the party linked the opening of the western port of the city to opening the ports to the city of Mocha, which is cut off by “Tariq Afash” militants backed by the UAE.

Local sources in the coalition mentioned a proposed deal presented by Islah to the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council to call for opening the outlets controlled by the party in exchange for the removal of the pro-UAE governor, Nabil Shamsan, loyal to “Tariq Afash.”

Tariq Afash pushed a number of activists to organize a demonstration in the city of Taiz to pressure the Islah party for lifting of the siege on the city.
