Sanaa condemns crime of kidnapping fishermen off country’s coasts

SANAA, April 17 (YPA) – The General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea condemned on Sunday the crime of kidnapping a number of fishermen by the Saudi-led coalition forces off Yemen’s coast of Midi district in Hajjah province.

The authority stated in a statement that the coalition also confiscated a number of fishermen’s boats, while they were practicing the fishing profession in the Red Sea coasts in Buhais area of the district, considering this act is criminal and cowardly.

The statement called on the United Nations and human rights organizations to play a role in holding their responsibilities towards these criminal and aggressive acts against the fishermen, and to work to protect them from the piracy of the coalition and its tools.

It held the UN and its organizations responsible for the continuous silence and inaction towards these criminal practices increasing the suffering of fishermen.
