SANAA, April 12 (YPA) – Acting Chairman of the Economic Committee and governor of the Central Bank of Sanaa, Hashem Ismail, met on Tuesday with the UN envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, to discuss the economic situation and the issue to pay the salaries of state employees.
In the meeting, the governor stressed the need to fully adhere to the terms of the truce announced by the United Nations, without any deduction or derogation, noting that the success of the truce would alleviate the suffering of all Yemeni people in the north and south.
Ismail affirmed also the importance of expediting the implementation of the clause on opening Sanaa International Airport to alleviate the suffering of citizens that has been going on for seven years.
He touched on the financial division in monetary policy, which has been caused by the transfer of central bank functions to Aden in September 2016, and the importance of reunifying monetary policy of the Bank.
The meeting reviewed the developments represented in the signing of the memorandum of understanding with the United Nations regarding the Safer oil reservoir file and its commitment to implement the agreement and mobilize the necessary funding to implement the solutions stipulated in the memorandum.
