SANAA, April 06 (YPA) – The General Authority for Zakat, in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Capital Municipality, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the private sector, launched on Wednesday a charitable initiative for distributing loaf of bread.
The initiative targets 160,000 families per day in the capital Sanaa and other provinces during the holy month of Ramadan.
At the inauguration, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Abdulwahab Al-Durra, noted the importance of the initiative to alleviate the suffering of the citizen due to the high prices of imported foodstuffs in light of the global crisis.
For his part, the Mayor of the Capital, Hamoud Obad, affirmed that such initiatives seek to alleviate the suffering of the poor and needy families in light of the conditions the country is going through due to the siege.
Head of the General Authority for Zakat, Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nastan, pointed out that the initiative started today in more than 100 bakeries in the capital Sanaa to produce one million loaves and distribute them to poor and vulnerable families.
Abu Nastan revealed the Zakat Authority’s endeavor to launch a project of charitable kitchens and charity tables in various provinces, as an embodiment of the greatness of Islam, solidarity, compassion and cooperation among the Yemeni people.
