Russia: Ukrainian mines besiege more than 60 commercial ships with their crews and cargo

MOSCOW, March 25 (YPA) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that naval mines planted by Ukrainian forces in the waters of Ukrainian ports are besieging more than 60 commercial ships with their crews and cargo.

She accused the Ukrainians of causing “grave dangers to navigation in the Black and other seas,” adding: “We are talking about 400 Ukrainian naval mines of obsolete types that have been deployed in the ports of Odessa, Ochakov, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny.”

She pointed out that “as a result, about 60 ships cannot leave the Ukrainian ports,” adding that “mines are drifting towards the Bosphorus Strait, and may reach the Mediterranean Sea, which poses a threat to commercial navigation.”
