Pashaga accuses Dabiba government of usurping power, occupying government headquarters in Tripoli

TRIPOLI, March 24 (YPA) – Fathi Pashaga, head of Libya’s parliament-formed government has accused Abdelhamid Debiba’s government of “continuing to usurp power and occupy government headquarters in the capital Tripoli.”

Pashaga said in a statement that ensuring that the elections are held and achieved on a constitutional and fair basis requires concerted local and international efforts to stop the political and military escalation practiced by the outgoing government ,which “continues to usurp power and occupy government headquarters in Tripoli.”

He added that the Dabiba’s government “is based on the imposition of the fait accompli and the exploitation of its government’s concern not to use violence and military escalation”.

“The government’s continued usurpation of power and the threat of violence will undermine the ceasefire agreement and undermine domestic and international efforts to hold elections, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the principles of democracy and the civil state,” he warned.
