MOSCOW, March 15 (YPA) – Director of the Second Department of the CIS Countries of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexei Polishchuk, stated on Tuesday that Russian military forces control the nuclear power plants at Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia, in Ukraine.

Polishchuk said in an interview with the Russian “Novosti” agency: “At the present time, the Russian army is supervising the situation at the Ukrainian nuclear power plants Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia, in cooperation with the Ukrainian guards and the employees of the two stations.”

The two plants operate in a normal system and the level of radiation in them is normal, which is confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency, he added.

He pointed out that the main efforts are now directed at preventing any provocation against these vital infrastructure facilities by ultra-nationalist Ukrainian forces.
