India accidentally fires missile into Pakistan

NEW DELHI, March 11 (YPA) – The Indian Ministry of Defence has on Friday that it accidentally fired a missile into Pakistan, India media reported.

“On March 9, 2022, in the course of a routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile,” the Indian defence ministry in New Delhi said in a statement.

“The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry,” the statement read.

For its part, Pakistan has summoned India’s Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad and conveyed its strong protest over the alleged unprovoked violation of its airspace by an Indian-origin “super-sonic flying object” and sought a thorough and transparent investigation of the incident.

According to Pakistani authorities, the rocket landed in Mian Channu, Khanewal district of Punjab, damaging the property of the local population.
