Al-Houthi: Sanaa signs new MoU with UN on Safer oil tanker

SANAA, March, 06 (YPA) – Member of Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi has announced On Sunday the signing of a new agreement between National Salvation Government and the United Nations to prevent a catastrophic environmental disaster, which could happen at any moment, due to the Floating Oil Tank Safer moored in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen.

“A memorandum of understanding has been signed with the United Nations on the Safer ship. God willing. The work will be according to the agreement in the future and will see the light of day,” Mohammed  Al-Houthi wrote on his  twitter account.

“This (agreement) meant to avoid any disaster caused by the arbitrariness of the US-British-Saudi aggression, their mercenaries and their siege of the Republic of Yemen,” he added.

The agreement is the second of its kind signed by Sanaa with the United Nations, as UN officials continue to procrastinate and ignore the deteriorating situation of the Safer. The ship is loaded with about 1.1 million barrels of crude oil, estimated to cost about $40 million.
