SHABWA, Feb. 17 (YPA) – Dozens of workers at the Central Ataq market staged a full-scale strike on Thursday in a protest against violations committed by provincial authorities in Shabwa.
Media sources confirmed that workers in the central market for vegetables and fruits held a vigil after trying to expel them from the market to a commercial market belonging to an investor close to Hadi’s governor of Shabwa.
The sources explained that the workers will suffer a significant loss if the transfer decision is implemented, in addition to the high rents imposed by the investor in the new market.
According to the workers, the measures will have a negative impact on the sale of goods to citizens.
Local UAE-backed authorities are seeking to expel workers from the state central market in favour of a local investor, who demanded that they establish a new market in Ataq city.
