Israeli media: Morocco purchases Israeli missile defense systems worth $500m

SANAA, Feb. 13 (YPA) – Morocco has signed a military deal to buy “Zionist” air defense systems worth $500 million, Hebrew media reported Sunday.

‘Israel Hayom’ newspaper reported Sunday morning that the Israeli Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will provide the Moroccan army with the Barak MX air and missile defense system in a deal worth more than $500 million,

Morocco initially made enquiries about Israel providing these and other systems when Minister of Defense Benny Gantz visited the country last November. During the visit Gantz signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) about defense collaboration between the two countries including such deals.

The deal includes an advanced Barak-8 air defense system, developed in collaboration between the Israeli occupation and India with applications that fit the sea (ships) and land (ground systems) and are capable of defending within a range of up to 150 kilometers in the face of various air threats.”
