Event held in Sanaa on “The Security Council and the Aggression on Yemen”

SANAA, Feb. 11 (YPA) – The Yemeni Center for Human Rights  on Thursday organized a special event to publicize the legal study “The Security Council and the Aggression on Yemen – Raids and Resolutions”.

The event was attended by Member of the Supreme Political Council Muhammad Al-Nuaimi, Secretary of the Supreme Political Council Yasser Al-Houry, Attorney General Judge Muhammad Al-Dailami and Minister of Justice Nabil Al-Azani.

The head of the center, Ismail Al-Mutawakel, explained that the study, which was prepared in an in-depth analytical research method, refutes the position of the Security Council towards Yemen for the period from 1947 to 2021, and documents the Council’s violations of international law in its dealings with the Yemeni crisis, and its threat to the international system and international peace and security.

He pointed out that the study reveals the violations of the Security Council of the Charter of the United Nations and its resolutions related to preserving the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs and its powers that limited its intervention to the existence of incidents that threaten international peace and security and the suppression of a crime of aggression against a country.

Dr. Al-Mutawakel stressed that the violations of the Security Council prove the council’s involvement in everything that is taking place in Yemen of aggression and siege through its silence and condoning of crimes committed against civilians and its issuance of violating decisions that legitimize the aggression, and turn a blind eye to human rights in Yemen, which suffers from a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
