Deputy FM calls on ICRC to redouble its activities in Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 26 (YPA) – Deputy Foreign Minister in Sanaa, Hussein Al-Ezzi, called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to redouble its activities in Yemen.

This came during his meeting on Wednesday with the head of the delegation of the ICRC, Katrina Ritz, to discuss the mission’s role after the recent bombing by the Saudi-led coalition against the Yemeni people, which led to hundreds of civilian dead.

Al-Ezzi affirmed that the ICRC should raise its voice to expose the crimes of the coalition to the international community, which will realize the reality of the unprecedented injustice that Yemen is subjected to in modern history.

For her part, Ritz reviewed the mission’s efforts to rescue the wounded and retrieve the bodies, as well as to provide support to hospitals in Saada, expand their capacity and receive the most needy cases.

She touched on the continuation of the ICRC’s mission in the follow-up of the competent and local authorities on the nature of the needs and the efforts necessary to contribute to mitigating the effects of these crimes, in addition to the efforts made to document and preserve the data of the victims.
