Fierce battles expand in south Marib city

MARIB, Jan. 20 (YPA) – The fierce battles continued on Thursday between the Yemeni army backed by popular committees (Sanaa forces) on one side and the Saudi-led coalition forces and their armed factions on another side south of Marib city, eastern Yemen.

The Sanaa forces carried out a successful operation, during which they were able to encircle the coalition troops and target them in Al-Faliha area between Abida valley and the eastern Balaq Mountains, according to tribal sources.

The sources indicated that the coalition warplanes’ intense strikes failed to support the coalition forces, which suffered huge losses in lives and military gear.

Many of the coalition officers and recruits were killed, including field leaders Hamad bin Mohammed bin Waheet and Zayed bin Sultan Ta’iman.
