UAE adopts Friday as first official working day

SANAA, Jan. 06 (YPA) – The   United Arab Emirates ( UAE)  will witness on Friday the first government day in the country’s history, as part of a weekly working system that does not adopt an official holiday on Friday in a different way with other Arab and Islamic countries.

Friday hours came into effect at the beginning of the New Year 2022, with 4 working days, Monday to Thursday, half a working day on Fridays, and weekends on Saturdays and Sundays, except in Sharjah.

From Friday, mosques will begin to standardize the date of the sermon and Friday prayer, to be at 1:15 p.m. throughout the year, and in Sharjah the date of Friday sermons, prayers and accommodation remains on schedule, according to the Hijri calendar.
