Army repels large-scale attack in Marib

MARIB, Jan. 04 (YPA) – Yemen’s army forces managed on Tuesday to thwart a major military attack carried out by the Saudi coalition forces in south of the city of Marib.

According to sources, violent battles erupted between the two sides in the areas of “Al-Ghariqat, and the strategic mountains of Ladha and al-Balaq, where the coalition withdrew from.

After fierce battles that left dozens of dead and wounded between the two sides, the army forces managed to force the coalition to return to its positions in Wadi Abaidah, after the coalition forces suffered heavy losses in lives and equipment.

The failure of the coalition’s advance came hours after the army repelled another offensive towards the coalition positions in “Al-A’arif” area, north of Al-Juba district, one of the entrances to the southern city of Marib.
