SANAA, Jan. 03 (YPA) – Algeria plans to extend a maritime line with Mauritania, where Algerian President Abdelmajid Tabboune has ordered the move to be implemented as soon as possible, The Algerian newspaper “An-Nahar” reported.
President Tebboune and the government begin the year 2022 with a meeting of the Council of Ministers. During the latter, the Head of State gave instructions relating to several cases, including that of transport.
Referring to the maritime transport file during the meeting this Sunday, January 2; President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has given a firm instruction to Minister of Transport Aissa Bekkai.
According to the press release from the Council of Ministers, the Head of State ordered Bekkai to open a new maritime line as soon as possible. The latter will connect Algeria to Mauritania, via the port of Nouakchott.
Launched in April 2021, the existing shipping line is intended exclusively for export. Supervised by the company “Anisfer Line”, this maritime line connects the port of Algiers to the Mauritanian capital.
