Maduro: I will visit Tehran very soon and Arab countries love Venezuela

SANAA, Dec. 27 (YPA) – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said On Sunday that he would visit Iran soon to finalize new agreements on cooperation with Tehran.

Tehran has become Venezuela’s biggest ally in increasing oil production amid US sanctions. Venezuela and Iran have strengthened their relations since last year.

Maduro’s government received important equipment for its oil industry from Iran, which in return received crude and other primary resources from the South American country. Iran played a crucial role in increasing Venezuela’s oil production in 2021.

“I am going to Tehran very soon for a visit proposed by President (Ibrahim) President Until we meet in person for talks and the signing of new agreements and accelerate cooperation ,” Maduro said in an interview with the Spanish-language al-Mayadeen satellite channel, which was later broadcast on Venezuelan state television.

“I had two phone calls with the Iranian president. During the phone calls we agreed to work on new plans, he said, without providing details,”

Maduro did not give a date for the visit, but described the two countries as militants.

In 2022, Venezuela will reactivate ways of cooperating with Arab countries, Maduro said, “They love us in the Arab world, and I know that Arab governments and people love Venezuela.”

The US sanctions since 2019 have affected Venezuela’s ability to sell crude oil and import fuel, exacerbating gasoline shortages across the country.
