Yemen, OHCHR discuss ways to enhance cooperation

SANAA, Nov. 23 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign, Hisham Sharaf, discussed on Tuesday with the Acting Resident Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Sanaa, “Safir Syed, a number of ways to enhance and develop and aspects of cooperation.

During the meeting, the minister referred to the crimes and violations committed by the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen and Yemenis, in addition to the living, economic and humanitarian suffering as a result of the air, ea and land siege imposed by coalition countries for seven years, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and covenants.

Sharaf touched on the recent escalation by the coalition and its tools on various fronts, and the consequent violations and crimes against civilians and civil objects.

The minister urged OHCHR’s office in Sanaa to play a role with all professionalism and impartiality in providing technical support to the concerned Yemeni authorities for monitoring violations and crimes of the coalition and condemning its war crimes in Yemen.

He reiterated the readiness of the National Salvation Government in Sanaa to provide all necessary facilities for the work of the OHCHR’s employees.

For his part, OHCHR’s official reiterated the office’s commitment to protecting and promoting human rights in Yemen, especially during the difficult circumstances it is going through.
