US imposes sanctions against Russia over Nord Stream 2 Project

SANAA, Nov. 23 (YPA) – US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the Biden’s administration is imposing sanctions against two Russian ships and one Russia-related company, which is involved in the implementation of the Northern Current 2 project.

“Sanctions will be applied against Transadria Limited,” the Blinken  said in a press release. Its marilyn ship will be classified as prohibited property.”

He did not name the second ship under U.S. sanctions.

Nord Stream 2 AG, operator of Russia’s North Stream 2 gas pipeline to Germany, announced on October 18 that the first series of the Nord Stream II gas pipeline had been completed with technical gas, indicating that the second series was being filled.

The Northern Current 2 project includes the construction of a gas pipeline of about 1,230 kilometres under the Waters of the Baltic Sea, with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year, from the Russian coast to Germany.
