Algeria stresses necessity of Syria’s return to Arab League

ALGIRES, Nov. 12 (YPA) – Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra on Friday stressed that Syria should return to the Arab League.

Lamamra welcomed the visit of the UAE Foreign Minister to Syria and his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad, saying “We hope that this will contribute to overcoming the obstacles facing the return of relations between Syria and other Arab countries.”

He assured that the meeting that brought together the UAE Foreign Minister with President al-Assad would be in the interest of joint Arab action, and would serve the Arab summit scheduled in Algeria next March, which as he said would be an opportunity for reunification and overcoming differences.

Lamamra had confirmed last August that his country supports the proposal for Syria’s return to the Arab League, explaining that this issue represents an essential issue in preparing for the upcoming Arab summit scheduled in Algeria.
