Algerian president refuses to answer Macron’s telephone calls

SANAA, Nov. 11 (YPA) -The  French newspaper “L’Opinion” reported that French President Emmanuel Macron had repeatedly tried to contact Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, but that was in vain.

The newspaper noted that Macron wanted to persuade the Algerian president to participate in a conference on Libya in Paris, next Friday.

L’Opinion, quoting a source, said that Macron sent a message to Algiers to persuade the Algerian president to come to Paris.

The newspaper pointed out that the source said that Macron expressed his regret for the misunderstanding that has prevailed with Algeria in the recent period.

He claimed that he hopes Tebboune will participate in Libya’s conference, next Friday in Paris.

On the other hand, the Algerian newspaper “An-Nahar” pointed to the statement of the French presidency, which confirmed that Macron respects the Algerian nation, its history, and its sovereignty.

Previous statements made by the French president in which he spoke about Algeria in a way that the Algerians considered hostile, caused widespread anger in Algeria.
