Taiz witnesses strict security measures, with arrival of UN envoy
TAIZ, Nov. 08 (YPA) – The Islah Party (Brotherhood) authorities loyal to Saudi-led coalition in Taiz city, closed on Monday morning all the city’s streets, amid strict security measures coinciding with the arrival of the UN envoy for Yemen, Hans Grodenberg.
Local residents said that the Islah authorities greatly exaggerated in creating the atmosphere for the UN envoy, closing all streets and preventing vehicles movement, in addition to a wide security deployment in the city.
Bloggers on social media sites (Facebook) denounced this camouflage in front of a UN official, while the city is engulfed chaos, lawlessness, and lack of basic services.
Human right activists from the people of Taiz demanded that the UN envoy stay in Taiz for two months so that the sewage overflow, pretending security stability, and the phenomenon of carrying weapons stop.
Grodenberg arrived this morning in the city of Taiz coming from Aden province, on the largest visit by a UN envoy since the start of the war seven years ago.
