LAHJ, Oct. 19 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias on Tuesday suppressed angry demonstration calling for improving services and living conditions in Radfan area in Lahj province, southern Yemen.
Members of the “Fifth Brigade for Support” of the STC fired on dozens of protestors in Al-Shuhada square in Al-Habileen district, and kidnapped a number of demonstrators, including human rights activists and took them to prisons, according to local sources.
The STC militia spread in the street of Al-Habileen city to prevent the peaceful demonstration that raised the slogan “Revolution of Hungry” demanding the payment of salaries and denouncing the economic collapse.
This comes after a popular uprising witnessed by most of the occupied provinces against the backdrop of the collapse of the economic situation and the decline in the price of the local currency against foreign currencies to reach 1,250 riyals per the dollar.
