SANAA (Yemen Press Agency) –  Deep disagreements have been escalating between Yemen’s slain ex-president’s son, Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh and outgoing president Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi over dominating Saleh’s General People’s Congress (GPC) party, a senior southern politician familiar with the issue said on Monday.

The politician, Hussien bin Lakur, who is close to Hadi, told reporters in the Saudi capital Riyadh that “all GPC leaders here have split between Hadi’s wing and his rival Saleh’s son Ahmed, in which most of the leaders dissented from Hadi and joint the military leader Ahmed Saleh.”

The move took place few days following Houthis killed their former ally Saleh in Sanaa after his changing of alliance.

The tensions have escalated over vying for controlling the leadership of Saleh’s political legacy, the GPC party, which both Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates have vowed to fund the GPC party in their fighting against Houthis to revenge Saleh’s death. END
