SANAA, Oct. 05 (YPA) -The Yemeni Olympic Football team played a 1-1 draw on Monday in a game against its Kuwaiti counterpart in the first round of the group stage of the West Asian U-23 Championship hosted in Khobar, eastern Saudi Arabia.
The Kuwaiti team advanced in the meeting with a goal in the 41st minute from a defensive error that striker Eid al-Rashidi took advantage of to score a goal.
Yemeni coach, Captain Amin al-Saninai made changes at the beginning of the second half that paid off in the 51st minute when Omar Dahi, who plays in the Egyptian league as part of the Aswan team, scored the equaliser with a stunning shot from outside the penalty area.
The Yemeni players continued the pressure, but the Kuwaiti goalkeeper countered with his prowess and tried to score a winning goal, eventually ending the meeting with a draw.
As a result, the Yemeni and Kuwaiti teams are in second and third place, while Oman came in first place with three points after beating Jordan 0-1 .
The Yemeni Olympic team is scheduled to play its second match next Wednesday against Oman counterpart, before facing Jordan on Friday.
