Japanese government resigns, ‘Fumio Kishida’ to become new PM

TOKYO, Oct. 04 (YPA) – The entire Japanese government has resigned, and the parliament is set to vote on Monday to nominate a new prime minister.

‘Kyodo’ news agency reported that former Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida would be elected prime minister.

At the end of last September, Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato announced that the Japanese Cabinet had set a date for an extraordinary parliamentary session on October 4 to elect a new prime minister.

Kyodo News reported this morning that Kishida, 64, will be elected by parliament when it holds an extraordinary session this afternoon.
