About 7 million riyals of counterfeit, illegal currency seized in Taiz

TAIZ, Oct. 02 (YPA)- The Counter-Smuggling Unit of the Police Forces Branch in Taiz province on Saturday seized about 7 million riyals of counterfeit and illegal currency printed by the Saudi-led coalition with the aim of harming the national economy.

The unit stated that it seized an amount of 2,283,000 riyals of counterfeit currency, and 4,535,800 riyals of illegal currency, in addition to 10,732,000 riyals of the national currency that violates a circular issued by the Central Bank of Yemen for travelers not to carry more than 100,000 riyals in order to facilitate the investigation process and prevent the introduction of illegal and counterfeit currency.

The seized funds were referred to the competent authorities.
