SANAA, Sept. 28 (YPA) – The Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria announced that air defense in the area of the largest Russian base in Syria – the Hmeimim base – shot down a drone plane fired by militants from Idlib towards the base.
“At 12:30 p.m., surveillance system at the Hmeimim base spotted a drone aircraft, launched from the territory controlled by armed factions in the Idlib area,” said a statement posted on the Official Facebook page of the Russian Defense Ministry on Monday.
The statement added that the he Pantsir S-1 air defense system at the Russian base “destroyed the target at a distance from the base.”
The Russian Center confirmed that there were no casualties or material damage, noting that the “Hmeimim” base continues to operate normally.
