Powerful explosion shakes Abu Kamal city on Syrian-Iraqi border

SANAA, Sept. 20 (YPA) – A powerful explosion occurred in the town of Syrian border city of Abu Kamal on the Syrian-Iraqi border late Sunday.

Local sources in the city of Abu Kamal told the German news agency DPA that a powerful explosion was heard in the western side of the city and that clouds of smoke were rising from the area where the attack took place.

US military drones have been flying over the area since Sunday evening, the sources said.

There was no official comment or confirmation about the blast.

Abu Kamal area has been repeatedly bombed by US and Israeli aircraft.
