SOCOTRTA, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Hundreds of citizens in Socotra Island organized on Sunday a protest rally calling for Emirati occupation forces to leave the island.
According to local sources on the island, UAE-backed “Southern Transitional Council STC) militia imposed an armed cordon on the people of Socotra in the city of Hadibo, who condemned the environmental tampering and looting on the lands of citizens.
Additionally, the militias closed the shops and outlets between Hadibo areas, in a bid to obstruct the gathering of demonstrators, imposing the state of emergency.
The sources added that the militia made several military points at the main entrances to Hadibo city, and prevented gathering crowds from entering the protests square.
The demonstrators stressed the continuation of the weekly protests until the departure of the Emirati forces and their militias from the island.
